EAGLE2000 glass is a newly developed lightweight AMLCD Alkaline Earth Boro-Aluminosilicate glass with a low density and a low coefficient of thermal expansion. It is a low alkali material with a total alkali content of approximately 0,1 wt% (typ. <0,05 wt%). The AMLCD glass is fusion drawn and features the excellent flatness and the high surface quality that is indispensable for high resolution applications. The low coefficient of thermal expansion, allow EAGLE2000 to be used for COG (chip on glass) processes, and reduces the effect of thermal downshock and breakage. Corning's EAGLE2000 speciality glass shows an even higher chemical durability than 1737. The high, broadband optical transmission and low light absorbance, in combination with the low mass of EAGLE2000, make it an ideal solution for many demanding optical applications.
