A so-called spy mirror allows to observe a bright room from a dark room. At the same time it is impossible to view from the bright lighted room into the dark room. In the bright room, there only is a mirror reflection. Due to this effect, such a spy mirror is also called a one-way mirror. This one-way effect, however, is solely based on the light contrast between the two sides of the mirror, because a mirror that is transparent only from one side is not possible for physical reasons. So it is imperative for the desired function of a spy mirror that the lighting conditions between the region to be observed and the area from which it is observed differ significantly. The observed space should be be illuminated as light as possible, while the dark observation room remains as dark as possible for best view. Our TDS spy mirror can also be used to hide a surveillance video camera, provided the video camera system's light sensitivity is high enough. The coating of our TDS is a partially transmitting chrome mirror coating, having only a small rest transmittance. It is corrosion resistant and highly resistant to water, acids and other environmental influences and is RoHS compliant. The coated side of the spy mirror is placed towards the bright room. At adequate quantities, for safety relevant areas, a thermal tempering of the spy mirror is possible. Also, at large purchase quantities, other rest transmissions and other glass thicknesses are available. Please send us your requirements in such cases.
