Overview about our types of thin film coatings and capabilities

In addition to our large program of standard thin film components, we offer the production of custom optical thin film cotings with a high optical performance, according to your exacting specifications. The following overview presents a summary about the most common coatings used in industry and science. We coat these optical coatings mainly on flat optical substrates but depending on the details it is also part of our capabilities to coat lenses and precision optics. Customized metallic & dielectric mirror coatings

Characteristic reflection curve

Optical coatings with mainly reflecting properties and high imaging quality. These can be based on all dielectric or metallic coatings, like aluminium, enhanced aluminium, silver, enhanced silver, gold, chrome, copper, rhodium or platinum. Dielectric coatings are often used for laser applications. The optical reflection, angles of incidence, polarization and most other properties can be adjusted according to custom requirements. Customized beamsplitter coatings &
partially transmitting optics

Characteristic beam splitter curve

Optical coatings used for neutral splitting of light or laser radiation or for defined damping of a light source. Beamsplitters can either be based on dielectric or metallic coating systems. The splitting ratio can be adjusted to customer’s specification by modifying the dielectric layers or layer the thicknesses. The backside can be anti-reflection coated to minimize unwanted secondary reflections and to prevent energy loss at the backside of the beamsplitter. Customized single- & multilayer anti-reflection coatings

Characteristic transmission curve

Coated optics design, that minimizes or eliminates unwanted reflections and ghost images or double laser beams which can occur from uncoated glass surfaces. The optical design can be optimized for single wavelengths or for a wide wavelength range (broadband AR-coating) and extra low reflection. The usable transmitted light is almost increased by the same amount the rest reflection is decreased. Customized cold mirror coatings

Long pass filters, cool light reflectors

Dielectric optical coatings with a high reflection performance in the visible range and good transmittance in the infrared range. A cold mirror is mainly used to efficiently filter out heat or IR-radiation from a lamp or a optical system. The cut-on and cut-off wavelengths and the range of reflection can be shifted or modified according to customer‘s specific requirements. heat protecting filter coatings

Short pass filter, infrared reflecting, characteristic curve

Dielectric optical filters with high transmission in the visible and high reflection in the infrared are predominantly used to block heat or IR-radiation. These filter coatings can also be used as transparent reflectors in the infrared spectrum such as near infrared laser diodes. The cut-off wavelength, optical transmission and reflection ranges of the filters can be customized. Custom made electrically conductive
and optically transparent ITO-coatings

Indium-Tin-Oxide conductive coatings

Electrically conductive coatings with good optical transmission in the visible and with a defined electrical sheet resistance. The sheet resistance and transmission depend on the film thickness and can both be customized. Sheet resistances can be in the range from 5  Ω/sq. up to 10 kΩ/sq. The backside can be anti-reflective coated to reduce secondary reflections. ITO-coatings with a low surface resistivity can be used as infrared reflecting optics.
